Durham Region considerations

Hedges fronting Harwood, Kingston Road, King Street or any plowed lot edge take salt spray all winter and brown off on the road-facing side by March. Those need the damaged growth cut out early and the face kept slightly open so the interior can regenerate. Hedges on exposed, wind-scoured properties in Brooklin, Uxbridge and Port Perry have the opposite problem — they dry out over winter rather than burn, and they should not be cut hard going into the cold.
