Trusted lawn care & grass cutting for Brooklin properties
Ontario Property Management provides lawn care & grass cutting across Brooklin and the wider Durham Region. Whether it's a commercial lot or a family home, we keep Brooklin properties sharp, healthy and well-maintained through the season — with a crew that shows up when we say we will.
Grass cutting looks simple right up until you're the one keeping it consistent for twenty-six weeks straight. The job is a fixed route, a sharp blade, the right cutting height for the month, and a crew that turns up on the same day whether or not anyone is watching. Most properties that look neglected aren't badly cut — they're irregularly cut.
Because we're local to Durham Region, we know the routes, the properties and the seasons here — and we back every job with full insurance, WSIB compliance and documented proof of service.

Brooklin specifics
What Brooklin properties need
Brooklin's newer subdivisions are almost all young sod over graded clay with very little topsoil under it, which is why lawns here brown early in a dry July. The rural properties toward Ashburn are the opposite — open turf on sandier moraine ground that dries fast but comes back quickly after rain. We work across Downtown Brooklin, Baldwin Street, Winchester Road, Columbus and the rest of Brooklin, and the schedule gets built around what the property actually needs rather than a route that happens to pass it.

Season by season
When the work happens in Brooklin
The season doesn't run at one speed. Here's how the schedule shifts from April to November, and why.
First cut
Mid-to-late April
We start once the ground has firmed up enough to carry a machine without rutting it. Going too early on wet clay does more damage in one pass than a month of cutting repairs.
Peak growth
May to June
Weekly, no exceptions. Ontario turf puts on most of its annual growth in these eight weeks, and a skipped week in May is still visible in July.
Heat and drought
July to August
Growth slows and on unirrigated properties often stops. The deck goes up and the interval may stretch rather than scalping dormant grass — cutting stressed turf short is how lawns get lost in August.
Second flush
September to October
Cool nights and fall rain bring growth back hard, so weekly cutting resumes. This is the stretch where a lawn recovers whatever the summer took out of it.
Final cut
Late October to November
One short cut once growth has stopped for the year, timed against the last of the leaf clean-up so nothing is left long enough to mat under the first snowfall.
Durham Region considerations
Durham's growing season runs roughly mid-April to early November, and it is not the same across the region. Lakeshore properties in Ajax, Pickering and south Whitby green up first and stay green longest. North of Taunton and up onto the moraine through Brooklin, Uxbridge and Port Perry the season starts later, dries out harder in July on sandy ground, and finishes earlier. A schedule copied from a Toronto route does not fit a north Durham property.
